On Friday, May 26th, the kindergarden students took their first bus ride and headed over to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. Located in the historic Franklin Park after which it's named, the zoo is considered the crown jewel of the Emerald Necklace Park system, which is a series fo green spaces created over 100 years ago, extending from Back Bay to Dorchester. The Franklin Park Zoo was founded in 1912, and sits on a 72 acre site. The children explored the park and saw many animal sights including watching a giraffe nibble on some greens, a lion laying in the sun, zebras grazing in their field and a family of gorillas spending quality time together. Before the day was over, several groups of students also explored the Barnyard, getting close (and some not so close) to several friendly goats. It was a lovely day for the zoo and learning more about some of our favorite animals!
