On May 9th, the 5th grade went to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston to participate in their Civil Rights, Civic Action program with educational coordinator Esther Kohn. The students had an introductory presentation, where they learned about three less well-known civil rights activists and how they used the tools of democracy to fight for justice and equality. Students received handouts for their walk through the exhibits, noting examples of various acts of civic action, such as peaceful assembly, listening and learning, and voting. Thank you to Esther, our educational guide, for a wonderful learning experience, our chaperones and The Village Bank for their donation in support of this field trip!
